Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Q: Where can I buy your produce?
A: You can find our produce at these locations:
- Matakana Village Farmer's Market most Saturdays (except our Autumn break).
- You can pre-order for market pickups (ordering details below)
- OMG Silverdale
- Fruitworld Silverdale
- The Superette, Omaha Beach
- Matakana Smokehouse Shopette
- The Artisan Hub at Mairangi Bay

Q: How do I pre-order for pickup?
A: Pre-order on the home page of our website. Click on 'pre-order for pickup from market' (message changes if the shop is shut). Pre-orders need to be in by Thursday mid-night. Matakana Village Farmer's Market pickup is Saturdays. After ordering, you will receive an emailed order confirmation. On the day of pickup you will receive an email notification that your order is ready with market location details. If you don't receive an email, please check your spam or promotions folder.

Q: Why have you closed your home-delivery service?
A: We aim
to operate more local to our farm; use less fuel and be more time efficient. We needed our home-delivery service during the covid years when the farmer's market was closed. Selling our produce at the market and at our stockists is a more time, cost and fuel efficient way for us to sell right now.

Q: Do you courier your produce?
A: No. We are 40 minutes drive from the closest courier depot pickup. It's not efficient for us to pack and drive orders to the depot. Selling our produce at the market and at our stockists is a more efficient way for us to sell right now.

Q: What crops do you grow?
A: Good question! Year round: lettuce, bagged lettuce mixes, coriander, dill, mint, lemongrass, oregano, sage, thyme, rosemary, edible flowers. During warmer months: zucchini, scallopini, basil, thai basil, tomatoes, beans, lebanese cucumbers. During cooler months: watercress, baby chard, miners lettuce, snow peas and rocket. In season produce will be in the shop area of our website. Subscribe to our farm updates and stories and follow us on facebook or instagram to keep up to date with what's in season, crop planting and harvesting.

Q: Are you organic?
A: We don't use synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, all the nutrients, pesticides and plant food we use are natural. We are not certified organic. More information on how we grow can be found in 'This is how we do it'.

Q: What packaging do you use?
A: We use home-compostable/worm-farm-friendly bags to package our leafy-greens and lettuce mixes. We use paper bags, rubber bands and re-use paper handle bags at the market. Please think of us if you have paper handle bags for us to re-use at the market. More info about packaging at 'This is how we do it'.

Q: Do you run farm visits?
A: This is something we're planning on doing in the future. It would be a day when you can visit the farm, see how we grow, meet the farm animals and have a country day out. Follow us on facebook or instagram for updates.
