The tomatoes ... summer of 23-25

We grow our tomatoes outdoors, spray-free in the soil of our front paddock. Being outside, it is always a bit of a mission to get the tomatoes tied up and supported throughout the season. Therefore, in the summer, our front paddock ends up being a bit of a tomato jungle! Our tomatoes are out in the blistering hot sun, under the stars and in the fresh air. They reward us with great flavour and their bold red and quirky shapes keep us entertained.

Here's a rundown of the tomatoes we're growing this summer:

Andiamo: Andiamo is a San Marzano style tomato excellent for fresh eating, or making salsa, pastes and sauces and are less acidic than other tomato varieties.

Marmande: French heirloom beefsteak tomatoes. Marmande is known for it's sweet flavour and juicy flesh.

Sicilian Sauce: Roma tomato. A paste tomato that is excellent for eating fresh or processing into rich soups, sauces or pastes with its meaty texture.

Mixed cherry: A mix of heirloom black cherry, red cherry berry, heirloom honeybee and golden sweet varieties

Thessaloniki: Greek heirloom salad tomatoes. Bright-red fruits with an old-time, traditional tomato flavour.

Costoluto Fiorentino: Costoluto Fiorentino is a French heirloom tomato with a distinctive flattened, heavily ribbed shape. Flavourful and perfect for slicing and making sauce.
