Ilustrations
Living and working on our farm, I'm surrounded by little stories unfolding. In the branches of the trees on our farm, over the mangroves in our river, in our market garden and in the grass of our farm's paddocks.
Most days we're planting, harvesting and selling our produce. While we work, I see the inspiration all around me, from the shapely form of a bright red tomato, to a heavy Keruru swooping over my head, to finding a tiny bright green frog under a leaf ... or admiring the strength and protection of a Totara tree on the edge of our gardens. When Sunday comes and the week's work is done I draw the inspiration that the farm has given me during the week.
If I venture away from the farm, I'm reminded of the big world outside of our small farm and capture what I see in my visual diary to bring home. Everything here on our farm is uniquely kiwi, sometimes quirky ... and my illustrations capture the essence of our small farm in Northland New Zealand.
I hope you enjoy my illustrations as much as I enjoy drawing them. Louise
